Flamingos in Brady

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

It was already after lunch when I got to Brady and I could tell I was needing some body fuel. I stopped in front of this bistro on the downtown square, but while I was getting stuff out of my saddlebags, they closed!

So I started heading in the direction I would be going anyway and as luck would have it, I landed at a place called Flamingo’s. They have phenomenal chicken enchiladas! What makes them so good? They are stuffed with de-boned chicken—not cut up chicken breasts or shredded chicken breasts, but genuine juicy de-boned chicken. It was the best I’ve ever had.

Definitely put Flamingo’s on your Eats list if you are ever in Brady!

San Angelo Shopping

<

p class=”MsoNormal”>The city of San Angelo lies on multiple angles and I found myself getting frustrated because I was lost. Ronn quickly reminded me that planning to travel and expecting not to get lost was trying to plan the plan, AND the results, which I have long since known is insane, so I quickly let that go and got centered and in the moment again.

Once I finally got downtown, I was able to indulge in about an hour of looking in two stores I really enjoy. Sassy Fox and J. Wilde’s. Both should be on every girl’s “must-go-to” list and guys—you can score major points by taking her to either of these two stores.

<

p class=”MsoNormal”>Sassy Fox has tons of way cool shoes. Yes, I admit it; I love shoes! So much so, I have been known to buy a pair of shoes before I have anything to wear with them. Which, of course, gives me the excuse to then buy a new outfit. It drives Ronn crazy! Well, Sassy Fox also has great clothes that will give you great ideas about things you could make if you were so inclined and they have a FAB dressing room area complete with fuzzy carpet. They have kids clothes if you have the little ones tagging along and also jewelry and Brighton stuff. And you can’t miss the soda shop where you can indulge in a malt to slurp while shopping.

J. Wilde’s also has great clothes and shoes, but they also have all sorts of way-cool accessories from football diaper bags to picture frames. They even have one-of-a kind pieces of furniture painted and decorated in the coolest ways scattered throughout the store. Another great place to get ideas! The thing I like most about this store though is they have a good-sized selection of women’s cowboy boots. Not just plain cowboy boots that happen to be in women’s sizes, but cowboy boots with flair! And if you go way to the back of the store, they also have a multi-level room where you can look at all kinds of things from carpet to wall paintings. It’s a must-do if you are in San Angelo.

WOW!

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

Oh my goodness! I can’t believe all of the words of encouragement and inspiration! Thank you to each and every one of you that posted comments–Ronn, Nan, Anthony, Josh, Larry, Mikki, Suzy, Marilyn Jo, and Tanya!

I got here safe and sound and apparently picked the best two days to travel via motorcycle. I left home right after it stopped raining and got here right before it started raining. It was a long trip, but a theraputic one, too. I figured it up and determined that I rode about 16 hours over two days and that’s excluding the time I spent piddling in cool little places along the way.

Look for posts over the next few days about my adventures while traveling. I do have lots to share! For now, I need to spend some time visiting with family. I came here to see my Mom and Bill.

Lots of love,

Lisa J

Her Journey Has Started…

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Just wanted to let you know that Lisa has started her journey.

She is about half way from Midland to Beaumont, a trip of 650+ miles, on Pulchritude and should arrive there late today (Friday). I expect that she will make a post or two about her travels when she gets web access.

In the mean time, I am sure she would appreciate your words of encouragement or such via the comments section here or via email.

Managing Your Emotions

Fulfillment is what we are looking for out of our businesses, not excitement. But it is easy to mistakenly confuse the two. One of the greatest character traits of an Entrepreneur is to be the calm in the stormthrough the great times, but also through the tough times.

This article offers an inside perspective on a huge challenge faced by Entrepreneurs–Managing Your Emotions. It explores why fulfillment is preferential to excitement and offers some practical tips that you can implement in your business to help you keep your emotions in check and you carrying checks to the bank!

Short Trip

Monday, September 4th, 2006

Went on a short trip with some friends this past weekend, just a 100 miles round trip to go eat breakfast.

Isn’t it funny how our thinking changes when we’re on a motorcycle? When you want to go eat breakfast and you’re in a car, the focus is on where you’re going to eat. On a motorcycle, the focus is on the ride. The priorities are completely different. Destination vs. Journey. The same idea that comes up over and over again in life. Perhaps that’s why I like riding a motorcycle so much. It’s about the journey more than the destination!
