2007 Harley Models

One of the things I enjoy doing on the weekends after my early morning walk is to sit down with a hot cup of coffee and catch up on a few of the forums I try to frequent. A favorite of mine is the Sportster forum on HD Forums.com. It seems that there is never a dull moment there and usually I find quite a bit of good information that I didn’t know.

I came across a topic there that was of great interest to me. That being a question as to whether or not there would be a 50th Anniversary Edition of the Sportster.

Now most of you out there have no idea, but the premise behind this site is for my co-author/co-host/co-conspirator (I am not sure of the correct term), Lisa J, and I to be able to travel the country and write about it here. Her business as an entrepreneur coach should be well suited for this. However, I am currently serving in a financial advisor capacity for a leading financial services company and have yet to come up with a workable plan for me to conduct my business on the road. (Compliance issues preclude me from listing specifics. Don’t ya’ just love it!)

Currently, I am the owner of a 2003 Sportster XLH, 100th Anniversary Edition that has been affectionately named Pulchritude. At some point in the next month of so, Lisa intends to purchase Pulchritude from me and I will get another Sporty. So, long post short, having a 100th Anniversary Edition Sportster and then a 50 Anniversary Edition Sportster sounds cool to me!

The forum post I mentioned above contains a lot of speculation, some wishful thinking and some ridiculousness (is that a word?). But the gist of it is that no one outside of HD corporate really knows anything yet about this.

I talked to three of my buddies last weekend about this. All three work at the local HD Dealership, Legacy HD. One is the ‘F & I’ guy and the other two are salespeople. They all told me, independently, that none of the HD dealerships will know until the 2007 bikes are unveiled in mid-July. All three of them do believe though that at the minimum there will be some kind of special paint job or emblems, like the 100th Anniversary models.

So here’s to waiting until mid-July to see the new models and figuring out which one will be my next bike!
